About the Thesis Work

Project description MSc thesis (30 p, 20 weeks) at Nouryon AB, spring 2025

Title: Improve Forecast Accuracy Raw Materials

Raw Material Demand Forecasting - Development

  • Analyze historical data: raw material consumption and actual purchases.
  • Examine specific cases where outcomes deviated significantly from forecasts and assess the impact on Nouryon. Are there aspects of production that need to be considered, fluctuating demand, or are there other factors that warrant further analysis in your forecasting?
  • Conduct a literature review of various forecasting methods. Based on this, explore potential solutions that could enhance your forecasting process. Develop a model, identify factors, or suggest methods that could improve your process (depending, of course, on the outcomes and the structure of your current process).
  • Compile and present research findings and data-driven insights.
  • Mapping of available tools on the market.

Expected Outcomes

  • A clear methodology for improving Forecast Accuracy
  • Quantitative analysis demonstrating the impact of long lead-time and Stocking policies.
  • A detailed report outlining research, methodologies, findings, and recommendations regarding how to improve Forecast Accuracy
  • Presenting the research and practical applications of the findings.

Location: Gamlestaden, Nordic Business Center, Gothenburg, Sweden

Preferred time period: Spring 2025 (~20 weeks)
