Nouryon accelerates growth with carboxymethyl cellulose acquisition

Nouryon is continuing its growth acceleration plans with an agreement to acquire the carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) business of J.M. Huber Corporation. The transaction will significantly broaden Nouryon’s portfolio of products in CMC, a sustainable, bio-based water-soluble polymer used as a thickener, binder, stabilizer and film former.

Nouryon introduces ingredient to improve the performance of lithium-ion batteries

Nouryon has begun the first deliveries of AkuPure™, a carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) polymer targeted specifically for the fast-growing lithium-ion battery market. AkuPure is an ultra-high-purity CMC that improves the electrode coating process, making the battery more efficient by helping it to retain and deliver power more effectively.

Nouryon strengthens US Expancel position with new Midwest production facility

Nouryon has selected Green Bay, Wisconsin, US as the location for a new facility to produce its Expancel expandable microspheres. The expansion project, which was announced last year, strengthens the company’s position in expandable microspheres, which are used to make customers’ end products lighter and reduce costs.

Specialty Chemicals and Atul to start MCA production in India in 2019

AkzoNobel and chemicals manufacturing company Atul have formally agreed the joint venture partnership announced last year for the production of monochloroacetic acid (MCA) in India. The companies will establish a new plant at Atul’s facility in Gujarat by first quarter 2019, with each partner holding a 50% stake in the joint venture, to be registered as “ANAVEN”.
