If you produce petrochemicals using catalysts, the combination of activity, selectivity and catalyst lifetime are important parameters. Levasil® colloidal silica can also be used as an important component in the catalyst support. The porous silica support enables fast mass transport and enhances the utilization of the catalytically active substances thanks to higher activity and by stabilizing the catalyst against loss of activity at high temperatures.

The strong binding ability of colloidal silica contributes to the mechanical strength of the catalyst structure and in particular to the attrition strength of the catalyst. This results in increased mechanical stability and extended catalyst lifetime.
