Nouryon has increased its capability to manufacture ammonium thiocyanate, an essential ingredient used in coronavirus (COVID-19) test kits. As demand continues to increase, we are stepping up the production of this key chemical reagent to help in the fight against the global pandemic.
Developed at our Cologne, Germany site, Nouryon produces ammonium thiocyanate via a unique process that ensures supply reliability and a consistently high-purity product, which are both highly desirable in pharmaceutical and healthcare applications.
“Pure and complex reagents are critical components of testing,” says Tony Morris, Sulfur Technical Marketing Manager, Performance Formulations at Nouryon. “We are increasing our manufacturing capabilities to supply this vital raw material for the reagents needed in COVID-19 test kits.”
Tony adds: “While we typically produce this key chemical for the agricultural and construction markets, we have seen a significant uptick in demand since the start of the outbreak. We are committed to making additional stock levels of ammonium thiocyanate at our Cologne site and we are ready to accommodate this demand.”
“In the worldwide fight against COVID-19, Nouryon employees are proud to deliver essential ingredients to our customers in the healthcare industry and make a difference,” says Kai Warnecke, Account Manager Intermediate Sales for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) at Nouryon.
Testing remains critical to contain and slow down the spread of the pandemic, and we remain committed to help our global community by delivering essential chemistry for a safe, healthy, and sustainable future.
