Supporting education for local community

March 2022

In July 2021, torrential rains and subsequent flooding significantly impacted the community in Mahad, India, where the Nouryon Mahad site is located. It left more than 90 houses destroyed, and more than 9,000 others severely damaged. Several school and college buildings as well as infrastructure in Mahad were also heavily impacted by the natural disaster.

In February 2022, the Nouryon India team launched a community program with Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar College, Mahad, by providing nearly $6700 worth of essential laboratory instruments and other equipment for students.

Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar College of Arts, Science & Commerce in Mahad was established in 1961 as a memorial college under the management of People’s Education Society, Mumbai. It was originally founded by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar who had launched the historical Chavdar Tale Satyagraha in Mahad, to establish equality and fraternity in human beings. The college was started with 66 students and currently has 4,500 students..”

“This is the first time we conducted a community program with a local college in India,” said Amit Salagare, Nouryon Mahad Site Manager. “We are proud to give back to the local community, and see our support is deeply appreciated by college administrators, teachers, and students.”

“With this program, we aim to support tomorrow’s bright youth in our community with enriched educational equipment and resources,” added Shrikant Kulkarni, Nouryon India Managing Director. “We are committed to building a sustainable future together with our stakeholders and society."
