Nouryon introduces Triameen® Y12D antimicrobial active for advanced disinfection in the US cleaning market

31 Jan 2023 - News

Nouryon today announced the US launch of Triameen® Y12D antimicrobial active that allows customers to formulate high-efficiency disinfectants for a variety of uses including household, institutional, and industrial applications. The announcement was made during the Technology Showcase at the American Cleaning Institute’s 2023 Annual Meeting and Industry Convention.

Triameen® Y12D is a highly efficient antimicrobial active that has broad spectrum effectiveness to address bacteria, including mycobacteria, fungi, as well as select viruses. It has a strong sustainability profile and requires lower dosages than that of quaternary ammonium products.

“We are very pleased to introduce Triameen® Y12D to our customers in the US,” said Suzanne Carroll, Senior Vice President of Nouryon’s Home and Personal Care Business. “Expanding our portfolio of cleaning technology with this specialty product demonstrates the company’s commitment to broadening the global reach of our innovative antimicrobial portfolio.”

Triameen® Y12D is differentiated from many widely used US antimicrobials today by using non-quaternary ammonium technology. It is also free of aldehydes and halogens and is non-sensitizing. In addition to the enhanced dose-effectiveness benefits when compared with quats, the technology offers an outstanding sustainability profile. The product “as-sold” is an easy-to-handle, majority-biobased (67% renewable carbon index (RCI)), high-activity (92%) liquid concentrate which is readily biodegradable.

Additionally, the performance of Triameen® Y12D can be boosted through formulating disinfectants with Nouryon’s portfolio of green chelating agents, such as Dissolvine® M-40 and GL-47-S products, which can further advance antimicrobial performance.

Triameen® Y12D is now available in Asia Pacific, Europe, and the US.
