Nouryon launches extra-small grade Expancel® XS200 microspheres
Enhancing interior paint performance
Nouryon is launching Expancel® XS200 microspheres at the 2025 European Coatings Show in Nuremberg, Germany. This innovative product represents a breakthrough in microsphere technology for interior decorative paints, offering customers a significant reduction in paint weight compared to traditional fillers without compromising performance properties.
Expancel® XS200 microspheres are a high-performance product in the Company’s Performance Materials segment, ideal for thin-layer paint applications. The particle size is significantly smaller than the paint layer thickness, preserving essential properties including smooth surfaces, high durability, and cleanability.
“With our new, innovative Expancel® XS200 microspheres, we are the first to provide the global interior paint industry with a microsphere solution,” said Sylvia Winkel Pettersson, Vice President of Engineered Polymers at Nouryon. “With this product, customers can reduce density in paint formulations, resulting in paint products with a lower weight per can in addition to cost savings.”
