You will report to Geert Bonte, VP Operations EMEA, who has the overall Operations responsibility for the region. With Geert as a leader you can expect clear direction, a co-creator who will have high expectations on strategic direction and deliveries. You will be empowered to set the path and take decisions in proactive collaboration with the many stakeholders around the organization.

 

In your future role as Regional HSE&S Director EMEIA you will... 

  • Contribute to the development of the Global Nouryon HSE&S strategy and ensure implementation in the region.
  •  Support directly HSE&S improvement activities at the sites within the region. Guide line management to deliver HSE&S policy, set the culture and manage hazards.
  • Build line management and organizational understanding and capabilities of HSE&S Guidelines & Requirements, Policies & Standards, Assets & Technologies, Rules & Procedures, Systems and IT-enablers, Mindset and Behavior (Nouryon’s HSE&S System), as to enable the reduction of occupational and process safety incidents, Industrial Hygiene exposure and emissions to Land, Water and Air in the region.
  •  Be a change agent for continuous improvement and implementation of Nouryon’s HSE&S System within the region, fully aligned with Nouryon’s vision on HSE&S (HSE&S Improvement Plan). 
  • Spend time on the shop floor and act as a role model for ensuring compliance with and commitment to the Nouryon HSE&S System including its risk tolerance criteria. 
  • Follow-up on (changes in) National/Regional (EU) HSE&S Legislation and impact on Nouryon Operations.
  • Serve as an internal auditor and incident investigator for the region and globally when applicable.
  • Manage a team of professionals in industrial hygiene, occupational and process safety, and environmental matters.

 

We believe you bring... 

  • Relevant degree (M.Sc.) in Chemical/Process Engineering
  • Extensive experience in relevant operational roles, demonstrated experience in production, site management, or directorial positions within the Chemical/Petrochemical, Oil and Gas, or Pharmaceutical Industry.
  • Experienced leader who will drive for performance and develop people in the organization.
  • Proven track record of delivering continuously improved safety results, evidence of driving ongoing improvements in safety performance within previous roles.
  • Cultural awareness and collaboration skills and demonstrated ability to collaborate in diverse geographical markets and effectively communicate with stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  •  Proficiency in English language, both spoken and written.

 

Great if you have experience from the specialty chemical industry but this is not a must to be successful in this position. It is crucial to have solid experience from the Chemical industry in some kind, with several years of leadership from an industry characterized by strong focus on safety, health, environment, and sustainability.

You enjoy being a leader and setting the direction, a skilled people manager who can engage, lead, and grow a high performing team.

This is a permanent position on a full-time basis, reporting to Geert Bonte, VP Operations EMEA and based in any of the Nouryon sites in Europe with a preference for The Netherlands (Amsterdam) or Sweden (Gothenburg) where your team members are located. To be successful in the role you will be travelling about 25% of your time.
