Nouryon’s Bridgewater, NJ location is looking for top candidates to fill the key role of Chromatography Scientist. This position is essential to:

 

This Scientist position is for a Chromatography specialist within the Analysis Americas group at the Bridgewater, New Jersey, Performance Formulations Business Unit Research Laboratory of Nouryon. The Analysis Americas group provides expert chemical analysis in support of new Product Development, Regulatory, Product Applications, and Manufacturing. Our goal is to provide the best information within a short time to our customers in response to their characterization needs. The team operates regionally supporting all aspects of the business.  Chromatography instrumentation includes multiple GC, GC-MS, multiple LC, LC-MS (Q-TOF), GPC(SEC) with RI and MALS detection. 

 

In your future role as a Chromatography Scientist, you will:

 

  • Provide insightful, prompt analysis of developmental and commercial products.
  • Provide support to plant operations in resolving production upsets and providing methodology. 
  • Maintains a laboratory notebook, provide insightful analysis reports, prepare monthly project summaries and utilize LIMS database.
  • Perform as a member of an extended team encompassing multiple sites and a wide array of chemical analysis needs.
  • Supports the development of new products and resolving customer concerns; Interact closely with Synthesis, Product development and plant QC groups.
  • Maintains company safety standards and lives the company values.
  • Will be a member of Performance Formulation business unit Analysis America team.
  • Will be a member of the global Product Chemistry & Analysis reporting line.
  • Will be responsible for maintenance and upkeep of laboratory instrumentation to assure best possible performance and reliability.

 

We Believe You Bring:

 

  • Master’s degree in Chemistry with >10 years relevant industrial experience, or PhD in Analytical Chemistry, OR equivalent experience in a related field with >10 year of relevant industrial experience.
  • Ability to independently execute modern chromatography techniques and chromatographic method development using a variety of isolation/concentration/derivatization techniques.
  • Demonstrated experience with GPC(SEC) molecular weight determination techniques.
  • Experience in SEC-MALS analysis a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience in both GC and LC Mass Spec techniques.
  • Must have excellent multitasking skills between report preparation, data reduction, sample preparation and instrumental upkeep are required.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Must be a team player who is hands on in the laboratory and focused on achieving results.
  • Ability to apply statistical measures to data analysis.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair instruments.
  • Strong computer skills. Proficient with MS Office suite and all necessary instrumentation data collection/analysis software.
  • The position may require travel.
  • Strong work ethic, proactive self-starter
  • Inherent safety focus.

This is a permanent position on a full-time basis, reporting to the Section Manager Analysis Americas, based in Bridgewater, NJ.
