Sr. Researcher


The Sr. Researcher will aim to advance our research initiatives in the Oilfield and Water treatment sectors in line with the RD&I strategy, project and RD&I functional standards. The successful candidate will be crafting and executing comprehensive research protocols to explore innovative developments within the industry, continuously refine our research techniques, and diligently analyze experimental outcomes to uncover valuable insights to drive the progression of both innovative and development-focused projects.

In your future role as Sr. Researcher you will 

  • Maintain and promote a safe work environment, comply with safety policies and procedures. Follow safe work practices for personal equipment safety, in both laboratory and in the field. End results are zero or minimum safety incidents and a clean, orderly working environment 
  • Plan, execute, analyze, interpret, and report experimental results
  • Identify new product/process optimization and technical solutions and new application opportunities for own area/domain and share these w/management 
  • Keep current on uses and improve relevant research methods in the field, ensure retention of knowledge through research reports and ensure other team members stay current
  • Participate in projects and ensure execution and delivery of technical results
  • Contribute to IP applications for own research work; analyze 3rd party IP in own area
  • Formulate and present possible solution directions and issue advice at request or at own initiative


We believe you bring

  • B.S. in Chemistry or similar discipline required; PhD or master’s degree in Chemistry or related field preferred
  • 3 - 7+ years’ experience in R&D, preferably related to Oilfield applications 
  • Understanding of structure-property relationships
  • Understanding of surface science principles and surfactants chemistry, properties, measurements, applications and formulations
  • Experience with formulation/product development
  • Understanding of various techniques, methodologies & tools
  • Ability to develop & implement new solutions
  • Ability to innovate & improve processes
  • Strong written & technical communication skills
  • Ability to collect & analyze data
  • Ability to keep up to date on current trends
  • Experimental design skills; Design of Experiment (DOE) experience preferred
  • Analytical, critical thinking & interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of oilfield chemistry and applications preferred
  • Ability to translate customer needs preferred
  • Ability to analyze impacts & decision risks preferred
  • Ability to apply IP knowledge preferred
  • Product knowledge preferred 
  • Project management skills preferred
