Summary: 

Nouryon, a global leader in essential chemistry, is seeking a Sr. Researcher in Chemistry to support its Personal Care division, focusing on hair and skin care applications. The Sr. Researcher will conduct complex experiments, ensuring data accuracy, and use scientific analysis to draw conclusions and recommend next steps for product development. This role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to enhance product offerings and address customer concerns.

In your future role as Sr. Researcher you will:

• Perform and report on experiments to meet business objectives.
• Support the development of new products, particularly in the Personal Care division.
• Collaborate with Synthesis, Analytical, and Marketing teams to innovate new products and resolve customer issues.
• Maintain thorough lab documentation, prepare monthly project reports, conduct literature reviews, and manage application databases.
• Execute complex experiments, ensuring data accuracy, interpreting results, and making scientifically sound recommendations.
• Provide technical support through lab work, field visits, and customer interactions, including occasional travel (10-20%).
• Lead medium to large-scale projects within the division.
• Uphold company safety standards and embody Nouryon's core values.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

We believe you bring:

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
• 5-10 years of experience in the personal care industry.
• Expertise in personal care formulations, with a focus on emulsions for hair and skin care products.
• Experience in skin care application testing
• Experience in emulsion scale-up and formulation troubleshooting.
• Experience working with biopolymers in formulation.
• Experience with natural formulating and knowledge of emolients and natural emulsifiers.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Ability to apply practical solutions to project challenges and experimental results.
• Strong hands-on laboratory skills, ensuring safety protocols are followed.
• Professional demeanor and appearance, with excellent interpersonal skills for collaborating with sales teams and customers.
• Proficiency in software programs such as Microsoft Office.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Good to know:

This is a permanent position on a full-time basis, reporting to the R&D Department Manager in Bridgewater, NJ.
