Regional HSS Specialist

The primary responsibilities for this position are implementing, managing, and monitoring programs, policies, and procedures, in North America, that meet both regulatory and Nouryon standards for: Health, Safety, and Security.  Key focus areas will be life-critical procedure training and implementation of a regional industrial hygiene program.

In your future role as Regional HSS Specialist you will 


 

  • Serves on the Regional HSE&S Team, and participates in driving strategic direction for the region for HSS matters.
  • Develop, implement, and manage programs, policies, and initiatives across the region. 
  • Conduct regular site visits to ensure compliance with standards, regulations, and safe practices.
  • Build site-level management understanding and compliance to regulations and systems and collaborate to monitor compliance and identify HSS issues and solutions.
  • Provide leadership/coaching/training to the HSE experts in the region and leverage knowledge through personal engagement.  
  • Develop training materials and provide workshops / webinars on HSS including risk management, JSA, BBS, Industrial Hygiene, injury case management, safety leadership, and life-critical procedures.
  • Guide site management to implement applicable procedures, templates and tools.   
  • Lead or participate in incident investigations and review investigations in the region for effectiveness; drive incident learning and communications.
  • Prepare/communicate reports for awareness, incidents, and statistics to drive discipline; Ensure proper incident/hazard/near miss reporting by monitoring reports and engaging/coaching site personnel.
  • Contribute to the development of the Nouryon HSE&S strategy.  Includes design, deployment and delivery of the Nouryon HSE&S management systems.    
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies to ensure the company is in compliance with regulations. 
  • Serve as internal auditor.
  • Develop and implement regional Industrial Hygiene program.
  • Improve Life Critical Procedures and develop regional training program.
  • Other duties as assigned.

We believe you bring

 

  • Bachelors-level credential in HSE, science, engineering, or related discipline.
  • 5+ years experience in HSE role in an industrial environment, with program management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applicable health, safety, security, laws/regulations, and applying them to an industrial environment
  • Ability to effectively manage implementation of programs at site level, and train staff of life critical procedures
  • Management of an industrial hygiene program
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate in English 
  • Must be able to wear FRCs, steel toed boots, hard hat and safety glasses and be able to go into a plant environment, including climbing.
