Senior Payroll Analyst

 

About The Job:

 

Nouryon’s Houston, TX location is looking for top candidates to fill the key role of Senior Payroll Analyst. This position is essential to:

 

Overseeing the United States and Canada payroll and time/attendance under the direction of the HR Operations Manager, North America.  The Senior Payroll Analyst  will ensure effective time and payroll processing, tax withholdings and filings, benefit and garnishment deductions, and applicable reporting. The Senior Payroll Analyst ensures union and non-union payroll, time/attendance, and all related system capabilities, operational workflows, and related processes are well managed, legally compliant, and accurately processed in a timely manner.

The Senior Payroll Analyst will also identify and lead payroll related HRIS projects to streamline and harmonize processes to further improve operational and quality efficiencies.  This role supports Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) compliance controls and all related audit requirements.

The Senior Payroll Analyst collaborates with the HR Operations support team in addressing and resolving employee questions, status change requests, terminations, leave management, taxes, W2 corrections, and related employee lifecycle events.

Administrative and data flow processes may be complex requiring significant systems and analytical capabilities to identify roadblocks. In this position, you will partner with internal and external partners to find solutions within and outside of established systems. 

The ideal candidate has proven/in depth background managing a complex/integrated SAP payroll system (ADP GV) and related workflows, Kronos Dimensions, and SuccessFactors Employee Central and replication monitor.

 

In Your Future Role as a Senior Payroll Analyst, You Will:

 

  • Implement, manage, and review payroll to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions for 1,600+ union and non-union employees including salaries, benefits, defined contribution plans, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions consistent with federal, provincial, state, and local wage and hour laws, and Collective Bargaining Agreements.
  • Maintain a strong relationship with outsourced payroll service provider, ADP.
  • Contribute to optimization and resolution for all employee inquiries and other related employee lifecycle events (hire, termination, leave, merit, W2s, tax issues, etc.) via self-service ticketing systems (ServiceNow). Assists in defining service standards and assist in troubleshooting more complex transactions and inquiries. 
  • Partner with HR Operations and HR Technical teams to ensure data integrity across payroll, time/attendance, HR systems, and related HR interfaces. 
  • Ensure systems are properly tested and reflect current wages, benefits, sick and vacation time, and related pay and leave policies for union and non-union employees.
  • Oversees and provides support of payroll related tasks relating to preparation of Forms W-2 and T4 (Canada) and internal payroll reports, processing defined contribution plan related changes, wage garnishments, imputed income calculations, as well as payroll system related testing.

 

 

We Believe You Are:

 

  • An expert in SAP payroll (ADP Globalview) and ADP Smart Compliance systems
  • Have experience managing employee lifecycle events (promotions, merit increase, terminations, W2, etc.).
  • Hold strong knowledge in SuccessFactors and Kronos Dimensions
  • Expertise in leave management policies, EEO and Workers comp reporting, Federal, Provincial, State and Local pay regulations, garnishments, and compliance.
  • Ability to analyze data and develop relevant insights, strong attention to detail and financial acumen.
  • Strong understanding of data flows and allocation of internal and external resources to ensure processes are timely and accurate.
  • Deep experience managing regulatory audits (e.g. SOX) and ensuring all processes are in place to guarantee compliance (segregation of duties, privacy protocols, etc.).
  • Strong ability to streamline and simplify processes and design efficiencies across varied operations and payroll platforms.
  • Project management experience in assessing payroll systems including troubleshooting, systems upgrades, and data management.

 

We Believe You Bring:

 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Payroll Processing including oversight of complex payroll systems including multi-state processing with hourly, salaried, union, and non-union populations.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification through the American Payroll Association preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in human resources, business, accounting, or finance. Equivalent work experience may be substituted for educational requirements.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office 365 Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel and report writing tools (ability to validate data, conditionally format, create pivot tables, utilize the VLOOKUP, if-and other Excel formulas). Ability to use and analyze data in Excel working with large volumes of data.
  • Ability to execute complex tasks in a thorough, composed, accurate and timely fashion while managing multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated vendor management experience, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and strong business acumen.
  • Ability to partner across the organization and has courage to address situations at all levels of the organization with strong ethical values. Strong process and procedure orientation for continuous improvement and change management methodologies.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills, self-starter, positive attitude, takes initiative, collaborative, meticulously detail oriented, excellent organizational skills, and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines with a sense of urgency and accuracy.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive and personal information.

This is a permanent position on a full-time basis, reporting to the HR Operations Manager, North America, HR Americas based in Houston, TX.
