Global Capital Purchasing and Operations Leader

 

About the job:

 

Nouryon’s Houston, TX location is looking for top candidates to fill the key role of Global Capital Purchasing and Operations Leader. This position is essential to:

 

  • Provide leadership, mentorship and coaching for the Global Capital Procurement Team.
  • Serve as the owner of work process development, documentation, and review across the Indirects Procurement Team, inclusive of Global/Regional Category Management, Capital and the India Source-to-Contract (S2C) teams.

 

In your future role as a Global Capital Purchasing and Operations Leader, you will:

 

  • Provide global leadership engagement with key Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) Manufacturing stakeholders related to the planning, sourcing and execution of global capital projects.
  • Coordinate the global leveraging of best practices and work process discipline for capital sourcing work processes.
  • Coordinate the global leveraging of best practices and work process discipline between key Indirects sub-teams, including Global/Regional Category Management (Category Managers and Specialists), CapEx Procurement Management and the India S2C team.
  • Provide global leadership engagement with strategic suppliers critical to the execution of capital projects to enable continued supplier relationship and capability development.
  • Work with key ISC Manufacturing leadership stakeholders to identify and deliver continuous improvements.
  • Lead the team in the delivery of procurement-related value delivery metrics, ensuring results are tracked via appropriate systems.
  • Drive working capital improvement within capital contract awarding and execution.
  • Support implementation of identified work process changes.
  • The development and implementation of effective sourcing and contracting strategies for Global Capital Projects.
  • The development and implementation of efficient work processes across the Indirects Procurement Team.
  • Estimating risks and apply risk minimizing techniques.
  • Identifying best practices and industry benchmarks.
  • Developing and maintaining in-depth market knowledge within areas of responsibility.
  • Researching and anticipating shifts in the negotiation power of suppliers.
  • Developing the organization to identify improvement areas, explore cost reduction opportunities and establish a total cost of ownership approach internally and with external suppliers.
  • Actively working to improve commercial terms with suppliers, identifying ways to support minimize spending and reduce cost to support the company’s financial objectives.
  • Actively working with key stakeholders in the businesses and ISC including manufacturing, engineering, and also finance and other functions to build alignment around targets and establish common execution plans to support business growth and profitability improvement.
  • Representing Nouryon; building and maintaining a network of business contacts in support of organizational objectives; conducting business in a responsible and ethical manner.
  • The development and implementation of sourcing strategies for product and services designed to support the identified business needs and in line with the Global Procurement strategy.
  • Collaboration with Nouryon’s India Service Center in support of Tail Spend (Low Spend) sourcing automation to ensure robust procurement support to Nouryon’s Manufacturing Sites.
  • Travel: 10%

 

We Believe You Bring:

 

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in procurement and/or capital project execution roles.
  • University bachelor’s or master’s degree level, preferably in Business Administration, Engineering, Logistics, Supply chain.
  • Good understanding of the Supply Chain and Manufacturing functions: strategy, processes, systems and organization.
  • Experience (direct / indirect) working with Competitive Cost Country (CCC) Sourcing Teams.
  • Change management: managing improvement programs with diverse teams as well as the cultural aspects of the change to be delivered.
  • Strong Project management experience with lean management methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma.
  • Experience in Sourcing including Strategic Sourcing Methodology and contract management.
  • Experience in either direct or indirect global leadership.

This is a permanent position on a full-time basis, reporting to the Vice President, Indirect Procurement, based in Houston, TX.
