PQC Manager


The PQC Manager manages activities of the Process and Quality Control department. This includes OEE improvements, directing BROC projects, plant/customer technical services, quality assurance, quality control, and analytical support needs of plants and customers. As ISO-9001 and RC/ISO-14001 management representative, this position is responsible for developing, monitoring, maintaining, and auditing the site’s integrated management systems for conformance to documented standards. This role is a key member of the site leadership team.

In your future role as PQC Manager you will 

 

  • Manage the process engineering group and analytical lab including defining minimum job requirements, recruiting, and talent development.
  • Coordinate Process Safety Management (PSM) for the site. PSM duties include facility siting study, management of change, hazard studies, and PSM audits.
  • Monitor analytical and plant performance to drive OEE, yield, and quality initiatives.
  • Provide technical/analytical expertise for internal and external customers on problems arising from manufacture and use of surfactants.
  • Manage the ISO 9001 and RC/ISO14001 programs to maintain compliance and continued successful re-certifications.
  • Approve/review MLM’s (basic product specifications), RMA’s (return material authorizations) and own raw material approval and spec change approval processes.
  • Manage capital projects to meet plant support requirements.
  • Understand and help implement the site’s Operating Policy, and HSSE goals and objectives.
  • Support and participate in on-going HSSE improvement activities and committees including VPP and BBS.
  • Be aware of potential health, safety, security, and environmental impacts in area of responsibility and the consequences if an upset occurs.
  • Understand and implement any parts of the Houston Environmental Compliance Plan and Waste Management Plan that apply to area of responsibility.
  • Participate in the site’s on-going Pollution Prevention Process.
  • Participate and adhere to all applicable government regulations regarding process safety and environmental compliance responsibilities for the site. Nouryon Houston is an OSHA PSM covered site.
  • Understand and assist with upkeep of process safety information as required by role.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of process safety and PSM management including the OSHA 14 elements of process safety and Nouryon’s 21 building blocks.
  • Understand and help implement the site’s Quality Policy, Quality goals and objectives, and the Quality Improvement Process.
  • Be fully aware of your specific quality assurance responsibilities.
  • Be familiar with site wide document control, internal quality audits, corrective action, non-conforming product, and record keeping procedures.
  • Ensure employees under supervision, if applicable, are aware of and are adequately trained in quality procedures.


We believe you bring

 

  • B.S degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or similar discipline.
  • 8-10 years of experience in chemical manufacturing environment with prior supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of chemical plant production, operation, design, installation, and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Knowledge of SPC/SQC, RAGAGEP, codes, and standards related to chemical plants.
  • Familiarity with laboratory operations would be preferred.
  • ISO 9001 & RC/ISO 14001 management systems experience preferred.
  • Basic understanding of modern analytical chemistry, laboratory automation, and computer familiarization.
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate in English.
  • Able to wear high top safety shoes, safety glasses, FRCs, and hard hat.
