About the job
We are looking for an Instrumentation and Electrical Technician who has the ability to execute restorative, preventative, and predictive maintenance activities in compliance with all applicable safety procedures and policies. In your future role as Instrumentation and Electrical Technician you will:
- Follow all Nouryon policies and procedures.
- Perform instrumentation and electrical related maintenance activities. Ensuring they are executed properly, and all associated documentation is completed. When applicable, technicians should read and fully understand the job package provided for planned work orders. Ensure to retrieve all the components/parts from the kitting area in the warehouse. The (KIT) if applicable, needs to be utilized to complete the job.
- Capture details pertaining to any equipment failures identified while perform maintenance activities. To consider a Job “complete” all field tasks must be finished, equipment/loop needs to be tested and all related paperwork must be completed and filed. Work orders must be final confirmed and closed in SAP with as much detail as possible.
- Observe/evaluate 3rd party instrumentation and electrical activities, when requested. Ensuring quality installation and/or repairs are executed. (i.e., acting on behalf of Nouryon and the Battleground Site as an Instrumentation and Electrical QA/QC)
- Ensure critical instrumentation equipment is properly maintained and operable. Loop verification is the final step of the loop commissioning process and a good example of proper operability verification. Loop checking is the process that confirms the components are wired correctly and helps to ensure that the system is functioning as designed. Documenting the results of all loop checks is also expected.
- Ensure power distribution equipment is properly maintained and operable.
- Overtime is generally determined by unit and equipment priorities. If a particular job extends past the normal work schedule, I/E technicians are expected to stay with the job until completion. This is subject to change in the event of emergencies and special circumstances.
- Available for 24 hour on-call duty and subject to callouts associated with site operations and/or emergency response. A callout report form must be filled out every time a technician is onsite working on a piece of equipment. The minimum information on such form will be a notification/work order number, the reason for the “call-out”, the as found and as left explanation, the name of the technician, the date and time of the call-out.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the work area and associated equipment.
- Prioritize and coordinate work activities to complete jobs individually and as a team.
- Express ideas clearly with other team members orally and/or in written form.
- Always understand and utilize safety procedures and safety equipment.
- Ensure all appropriate records are maintained such as inventories of parts, equipment, and tools, work orders, timesheets, etc. Time entries must be inputted in SAP and the time charged to work orders must be done before the end of shift or before leaving the plant after a call-out. If a technician worked with a notification number instead of a work order, the technician should input the time in SAP the next business day after notification is converted to a work order. Ensuring the proper code is entered in SAP for straight time or over time.
- Participate in weekly safety discussions, monthly safety meetings, and maintain CBT compliance.
- Participate in all daily Maintenance update discussions, when requested.
- Read and understand P&ID drawings, electrical schematics, mechanical schematics, and technical operational manuals.
- Provide onsite and remote technical support.
- Perform other miscellaneous duties assigned.
We believe you bring
- Minimum of 5 years of previous work experience in high-speed manufacturing or industrial environment. BS in instrument Technology, associates in instrumentation, Specific training in Instrumentation required
- Must be experienced in Electrical Theory, NEC experience , Arch Flash NFPA 70E
- 5+ years of experience with electrical controls / PLC trouble shooting, programming and repair preferred
- Demonstrated background of mechanical and electrical aptitude. Size wiring, Conduit schedules and terminations
- Must be able to work on a normal 5-day, 8-hour shift and also 12 hour shifts during plant shutdowns as needed. Also needs to be able to take on-call duties for at least 1 week per month. Flexibility is a plus
- Able to lift objects up to 50 pounds frequently
- Must be a self-directed worker, capable of working in a team environment to solve problems and implement solutions
- Must be able to effectively read, comprehend, interpret, record and apply information from documents (i.e., equipment manuals, schematics, logic & wiring diagrams, specification sheets, blueprints, SOP's, policies, etc.)
