In your future role as QC Technician III, you will:
- Conduct routine wet chemistry and instrumental analyses on in-process, final shipment samples, and raw materials to ensure top-notch quality.
- Work closely with the production team to troubleshoot and resolve any quality issues that arise.
- Perform wet chemistry analyses as part of established procedures. Tasks include:
- Weighing alkyls and alkyl solutions for hydrolysis.
- Titrating hydrolyzed samples to check for metal and halide content.
- Preparing and standardizing reagents.
- Handle GC instrumental analysis, including:
- Analyzing neat alkyls/alkyl solutions for gas composition via hydrolysis.
- Testing solvents and raw materials for purity using gas chromatography.
- Preparing GC standards and using Chromeleon software.
- Maintaining and troubleshooting GC instruments.
- Review and calculate routine analytical data for accuracy using MES software.
- Keep your work environment safe and clean by following plant/technical center safety practices, good housekeeping habits, and disposing of products, raw materials, and waste properly.
- Participate in plant/analytical safety programs.
- Review and release analytical reports and shipping certificates of analysis (COAs) when needed.
- Lead projects like MSA studies and document your work as directed by lab supervision.
- Train other lab technicians on instrument maintenance.
- Analyze high-purity metal alkyls using ICP and NMR spectroscopy. This includes:
- Operating Thermo iCAP ICP system.
- Becoming familiar with the NMR system.
- Using and maintaining the MBraun glovebox.
We Believe You Bring:
Education:
- AA in Chemical Technology, BA, or BS in Chemistry or related science, or equivalent experience.
- At least 20 hours of college science coursework.
Experience:
- 4-8 years in a production environment, ideally in the petrochemical lab industry.
Technical Skills:
- Experience operating the Spectro Arcos or Thermo iCAP ICP system.
- Familiarity with Chromeleon software (Thermo FS).
- Strong understanding of modern analytical chemistry, wet chemistry, and GC analysis.
- Comfortable with basic lab automation and using computers.
Communication:
- Proficient in reading, writing, and communicating in English.
Teamwork & Independence:
- Ability to collaborate well with other teams and departments.
- Comfortable working independently when needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods (up to 12 hours per shift).
- Comfortable lifting up to 30 pounds and changing gas cylinders.
Safety & Compliance:
- Comfortable wearing high-top steel-toed safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, and protective gear (including respirators, face shields, and FRC coveralls).
- Able to work safely with PVC or nitrile gloves, aluminized suits, and respirators.

This is a permanent position on a full-time basis, reporting to the Quality Control Supervisor in LaPorte, TX.
