Shift Supervisor

 

About the job:

 

Nouryon’s Morris, IL location is looking for top candidates to fill the key role of Shift Supervisor. This position is essential for partnering with the Production Manager, Superintendents and in directing both personnel issues along with production related activities in the areas of safe work practices, production scheduling, schedule execution, maintenance preparation and execution, and project execution.  This role is also responsible for reviewing operations procedures and providing work processes improvement recommendations to the Site Leadership.

 

In your future role as a Shift Supervisor, you will:

 

  • Responsible for the direct supervision of hourly personnel to meet production and scheduling requirements.
  • Supervise and direct Plant personnel to meet production requirements.
  • Primary Nouryon representative onsite during off hours.
  • Incident commander for emergency until relieved.
  • Solve problems related to raw materials, equipment, and scheduling as needed
  • Prioritize resource demands on off-shifts.
  • Schedule overtime for all operating units (including coverage for call-offs).
  • Prioritize maintenance on the off-shifts.
  • Participate and facilitate continuous improvement projects as needed.
  • Provide troubleshooting assistance to operations and maintenance.
  • Training and coaching of hourly employees.
  • Complete or assure that all manufacturing paperwork is completed as expected including Batch sheet confirmations and good receipts in MES.
  • Review Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions.
  • Enter work orders and maintenance requests as required.
  • Responsible for HSES activities within the Operations Group.
  • Responsible for safety training of Operations personnel and adherence to appropriate standards and policies.
  • Lead shift toolbox safety meetings.
  • Responsible for maintenance preparation in accordance with LOTOTO and LSR.
  • Focus efforts of Operations personnel on behavior based safety activities to eliminate injuries.
  • Promote good housekeeping standards in the Plant.
  • Participate as needed in injury and incident investigations.
  • Work closely with HSES Departments to maintain environmental controls, Industrial Hygiene, and employee health.
  • Participate in HSES activities directed by management/supervision or as indicated in the HSES Annual Site Plan.
  • Must make the safety of themselves and the people around them a priority.
  • Seen as a leader in the compliance and enforcement of Company rules/policies to ensure the operations are completed safely
  • Supervise the duties associated with the manufacturing of chemicals and other products to meet quality specifications and customer demands.

 

 

We Believe You Bring:

 

  • Associates degree or five years chemical manufacturing experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of chemical manufacturing processes, procedures, and equipment. 
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) a plus.
  • Knowledge in SAP & MES Management Systems
  • Knowledge of DCS control systems a plus.
  • Seeks to understand the Health, Safety, Environmental and Security (HSES) aspects of his/her area operations and the consequences if an upset occurs
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: able to develop and maintain good working relationship and work productively with others in a team environment
  • Mechanical aptitude

This is a permanent position on a full-time basis, reporting to the Production Supervisor, based in Morris, IL.
