About the Job:

 

The Production Superintendent is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the plant. This role encompasses all aspects of the Production department, including administrative duties, technical support for processes and products, project assignments, maintenance coordination, and leadership during plant shutdowns. Daily responsibilities focus on plant production and troubleshooting. The Production Superintendent plays a crucial role in resolving production issues, leveraging their technical knowledge, plant experience, and leadership skills. They also participate in the on-call rotation for night and weekend production coverage.

 

 

 

In your future role as Production Superintendent you will:

 

 

  • Monitor daily plant production, provide guidance and direction, and attend the 9 AM and 2 PM production meetings.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation.
  • Lead and manage assigned projects, including new equipment installations and process implementations, and coordinate maintenance shutdowns with Production and Maintenance teams.
  • Assist with and implement unit-specific training, and ensure accurate production reporting and maintenance of production files.
  • Manage monthly raw material inventory and translate levels into pounds for logistics.
  • Monitor equipment and process performance, including batch yields and downtime, and enter data into the Campaign database.
  • Identify and manage rework, ensuring compliance with non-conformance procedures.
  • Implement and update plant procedures.
  • Participate in and sometimes lead plant HAZOPS for new or modified products.
  • Interface with maintenance for scheduling, including ISO calibrations.
  • Resolve and complete corrective actions assigned to the Production department, and respond to action items from various programs and audits, including CSC, EST, QST, Non-Conformance, ISO, Management Safety, and SIF audits.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring for plant processes, and take an active role in ERT, BST, VPP, and quality teams.
  • Enforce health, safety, security, and environmental policies, and implement the Pasadena Functional Chemicals Site Operating Policy and Objectives, including MTQ and ISO/RC 14001.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental permits, participate in the site’s Pollution Prevention Process, and undertake appropriate environmental training for plant personnel.

 

 


We believe you bring:

 

  • Minimum High School Degree, with some college preferred
  • 12+ years of experience in a chemical plant, including at least 5 years in a supervisory role
  • Experience working with Organic Peroxide is a plus
  • Spanish proficiency is a plus
  • Experience in Process Safety Management (PSM) preferred
  • Strong people management skills
  • Proficient in reading and writing procedures in English
  • Strong computer skills
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders for unit inspections
  • Ability to wear a respirator and steel-toed boots
  • Corrective vision with glasses only; no contact lenses in the plant area
  • Strong team skills for interaction with various departments and personnel at different organizational levels
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of plant processes and equipment
  • Knowledge of products
  • Behavioral Safety Training (BST)
  • Supervisory skills
  • Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP)
  • Safety and environmental policies and procedures

This is a permanent position on a full-time basis, reporting to the Production Manager in Pasadena, TX.
