HSES Specialist

 

About the job:

 

Nouryon’s Salisbury, NC location is looking for top candidates to fill the key role of HSES Specialist. This position is essential to:

 

The HSES Specialist is responsible for providing site Health, Safety and Environmental compliance leadership and support to the site. In this position, the individual must have a high degree of commitment to site health, safety and environmental and security programs. Maintain a high level of integrity and professionalism with the ability to maintain confidentiality. 

.

In your future role as a HSES Specialist, you will:

 

  • Supports the HSES Manager and HSES department in day-to-day activities.
  • Coordinate IH sampling, processing and data entry for Industrial Hygiene testing.  Conduct Noise Monitoring periodically as required by the Hearing Conservation Program.
  • Prepare HSES training materials, coordination of internal and external training, scheduling for monthly safety mtgs., and regulatory and compliance training. Maintain employee training records electronically and hard copy, and provide periodic training reports to supervision, and management as scheduled or requested.
  • Coordinate the site Respiratory Protection Program including the annual review, medical clearance, employee physicals, fit testing, ordering supplies, and recordkeeping.
  • Conduct internal audits for HSES / RC 14001, Life Critical Procedures and site permits, PSM,  corporate audits and procedure reviews.
  • Supports the site in PTW, LOTOTO and CSEE and Rescue activities.
  • Manage site Haz Mat Team activities. Respond and assist with site Incidents, Emergency Response team member, and coordinate training and drills and exercises.
  • Support the Incident investigation process, internal reporting and the Enablon Reporting System.
  • Contribute to Community Advisory Panel.
  • Serve on Local Emergency Planning Committee for Rowan County.
  • Support the site’s BBS process.
  • Participate in HSES activities directed by management / supervision or as indicated in the HSES Annual Site Plan.
  • Maintains a regular plant floor presence in all plant areas to develop communication and understanding of HSES internal and external requirements with all personnel.

 

 

We Believe You Bring:

 

  • 8-10 years’ experience of working in a chemical plant environment.
  • Knowledge and experience of the sites safety policies and procedures (PTW, LOTOTO, CSEE and Rescue) and has an excellent safety record.
  • Knowledge and experience in WWTP operations, hazardous waste compliance (RCRA), Stormwater compliance, OSHA regulations, DOT, and Nouryon standards and directives.
  • Knowledge and experience in the sites BBS process.
  • Haz Mat and CSEE Rescue team member.
  • Basic accounting and math skills. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills. 
  • High degree of integrity; able to maintain confidentiality. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). 
  • Strong work ethic, good organizational and interpersonal skills

This is a permanent position on a full-time basis, reporting to the Site Director, based in Salisbury, NC.
