Instrumentation and Electrical Technician

The purpose of the IE Technician is to help maintain the operation of the plant and to make repairs needed to keep the plant running in a safe manner.

 

 

About the job

This position performs both demand maintenance and preventative maintenance tasks, including utility maintenance (boilers, deionized water system, air compressors), instrumentation and electrical troubleshooting, and pipe welder.

 

 

In your future role as an Instrumentation and Electrical Technician you will:

 

  • Work safely in chemical plant environment, including permit to work and other permit; LOTOTO, confined space, hot work, line breaking, crane, energized, excavation and working at heights procedures and paperwork.
  • Ability to perform general routine preventive and demand maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to utilize Preventive Maintenance Software for entering and closing demand and preventive maintenance work orders.
  • Welding tasks include GTA (TIG) welding of Hastelloy C-276, 316 stainless steel, and 304 stainless steel; stick welding of steel piping, plate, angle; and fitting of threaded and welded piping.  Prefer experience with Miller style arc and stick welding equipment, plasma cutter, grinders, pipe threaders drill press, band saw, and machine tools.
  • Utility systems maintenance tasks include boiler inspections, water testing, and compressor maintenance.
  • Electrical and instrumentation tasks include calibration, motor replacement, wiring and conduit runs, fuse replacement, multi-meter use.
  • Exemplary safety performance and attitude.  Ability to work with little supervision.  Ability to handle continual change and to work independently.
  • Participate in HSES activities directed by management/supervision or as indicated in the HSES Annual Site Plan.
  • Team members should operate under any applicable Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) when performing functions within their role.

 

We believe you bring

 

 

  • Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from 2-year college or technical school and three years related experience and/or training in their area of primary specific responsibility; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to do basic math calculations
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and basic computer skills
  • Must be able to work in a team-oriented environment
