About the job
This position requires planing, organize and execute sales/ business development and financial objectives for the given territory. OWC, Margin Management and Demand planning are required attrebutes for day to day business along with coordination within internal interface between Customer Service, Technical Service and the Sales and Marketing Team. This position ensures that all Sales & Marketing activities are in strict compliance with Nouryon’s Business and Anti-Competition Principles. The key objectives are mapping channels to market, developing on the core customer base, establishing pricing strategy, and growing the business in the region through partnerships both direct and via distribution. This position interfaces with a wide range of disciplines across multiple applications, at customers and across Nouryon. The position also needs to understand the various value chains of industry for the specific applications, value chain at each customer and ensuring Nouryon interacts at the right level with right partnerships & agreements. Overall, this position is responsible for several critical tasks to meet customer requirements, establish the new business, and generate sustainable business. The position will draw on business acumen, commercial skills, interpersonal skills, cross cultural skills and leadership skills.
In your future role as “ Account Manager-Natural Resources ” you will
- Support, Country and the regional business, and if applicable coordinate with Asia sales efforts to maximize the business unit’s incoming business, cost effectively and consistent with the strategy and goals set.
- In support of the growth strategy in multiple segments/product lines, supports or conducts market share analysis, report and operation plans preparation.
- Assure that distributors are fully trained and informed regarding products, and have access to adequate information and samples necessary to sell said products. Develop customer product and sales training programs to meet the informational needs related to our business plan objectives.
- Continually monitor market to determine to extent possible market size and market penetration of company's products. Continually evaluate the timely adjustment of marketing strategy and plans to meet changing markets and competitive conditions.
- Supervise the technical development of account strategy, product introductions and approvals and implementation of these programs. Assist in conducting sales calls, negotiating contracts, claims and credit levels, developing competitive information and obtaining general information on the company with respect to its future plans.
- Recommend and monitor new product opportunities for Research and Development. Oversee execution of product/market development through supervision of the product development staff from the sales marketing standpoint and assure continual cooperation and close relationship with Research and Development on projects. Assist in the translation of market needs into R&D projects. Establish and direct the implementation of all product line goals for sales volume, earnings and profitability, and return on assets.
- Accountable for establishing and implementing the overall regional marketing and sales plan of products for a geo region, maximizing sales and profitability both short and long term to meet budgeted goals and objectives. Includes the regional development of markets, sales, and research strategies and implementation of these programs in concert with the business objectives.
- Stakeholder to develop the matrix business of multiple product lines in the diversified markets in Japan. Product lines include but not limited to Alkoxylates, Chelates, CMC, Solution&Bio Polymers, and Amines Surfactants. Markets include but not limited to Natural Fibers, Oilfield, Fuel&Lubes, Water Treatment, Mining, and Other.
- Is responsible for the specific geographic region, which generates a portion of the revenue for the business segment in the region. The position is responsible to optimize the product mix and sales volume in order to maintain or grow market share depending upon the overall global strategies for the business. Coordination is also supplied for export sales from regional manufacturing facilities.
- Good relationships with R&D, technical service, manufacturing, customer support, logistics, financial and general administration is required.
- Outside the company, support is provided in sales strategy development and contract negotiation with customers. Some of this will be conducted in Europe or US when global customers are involved. On a regular basis, meetings are attended with a variety of industry and trade association groups that are critical to the operational success of the business. There are seven industry market segments.
- Verbal and written presentation is required.
- The position is critical for the development and implementation of short and long-term strategies.
- The positive and negative effects on the business are substantial basis decisions made by position holder.
We believe you bring
- Education: Bachelor in Chemical Engineer or relevant background preferred
- Experience: 5+ year technical sales and business development experience of specialty chemicals
- Sound understanding of industries of Pulp&Paper, Electronics, Lithium Battery or/and Lubricant
- Experience in Business Development, and global projects involvement preferred
- Experience in direct contact with customers at commercial levels and distribution channel management
- Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills
- Demonstrates strengths in Customer Focus, Innovation and Teamwork.
- Self-motivated, energetic, and enthusiastic
- Travel 50-60% domestic in Japan is required.
- Good English skills in reading, writing and speaking.
