About the role

The Nouryon Polymer Specialties business is the world's leading producer of organic peroxides, metal alkyls and organometallic specialties. These are essential ingredients for the polymer industry. One of our R&D groups, the Safety Testing and Modeling (STM) team, focuses on the safety of products and processes for the Polymer Specialties business. Supported by a world-class safety laboratory, this team conducts investigations to support the development of safe products for our international customer base and new safe processes for our global manufacturing operations.

The safety studies include aspects such as thermal runaway behavior, reaction kinetics and explosivity testing. In addition, we perform safety tests for transport and storage classification of hazardous chemical goods.

In your future role as Product Safety Engineer you will

• Contribute to the development of new safe products and processes (mainly in the field of organic peroxides)
• Conduct trainings and demonstrations in the field of safe handling and storage of hazardous chemical goods
• Contribute to customer support activities and advice our customers how to use our organic peroxides safely
• Participate on behalf of Nouryon in international working groups on transport and storage of dangerous goods
• Plan and conduct safety experiments, evaluate experimental data and report these, verbally as well as in writing, to various project leaders

We believe you bring

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in chemical engineering, chemistry or an related field
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant working experience
• Good language skills in English, both in speech and in writing
• Experience with complex stakeholders management

Great if you have

• Experience with regulatory affairs
• Experience with working in a lab enviroment

• Willing to travel approximately 10-20% of your time

We offer you

You will have the chance to work with various stakeholders across all levels of the organization. A challenging job within our STM team, participating in development of safe products for our markets and safe processes to produce our specialty chemicals. The team in Deventer are all professional specialists who strive to be better every day and are always willing to help whenever necessary. Our employment package comprises:

• A permanent contract with a probationary period of 2 months.
• A gross basic annual salary including holiday allowance based on your knowledge and experience between EUR 55.000 and EUR 80.000.
• 25 vacation days + 10 leave days.
• An STI-bonus based on own kpi’s and company performance.
• Excellent pension scheme.

This is a position on a full-time basis, based in Deventer. You will be reporting to the Team Leader Product Safety, who is based in Deventer.
