Regional HS&S Specialist

This role will be based out of Houston, TX with required travel to other sites as necessary.

The primary responsibilities for this position are implementing, managing, and monitoring programs, policies, and procedures, in North America, that meet both regulatory and Nouryon standards for: Health, Safety, and Security. Key focus areas will be contractor management, training, and emergency response.

In your future role as Regional HS&S Specialist you will 

• Serve on the Regional HSE&S Team, and participates in driving strategic direction for the region for HSS matters.
• Develop, implement, and manage programs, policies, and initiatives across the region with initial focus on contractor management, training, and emergency response.
• Conduct regular site visits to ensure compliance with standards, regulations, and safe practices.
• Build site-level management understanding and compliance to regulations and systems and collaborate to monitor compliance and identify HSS issues and solutions.
• Provide leadership/coaching/training to the HSE experts in the region and leverage knowledge through personal engagement.  
• Develop training materials and provide workshops / webinars on HSS topics.
• Guide site management to implement applicable procedures, templates and tools.   
• Lead or participate in incident investigations and review investigations in the region for effectiveness; drive incident learning and communications.
• Prepare/communicate reports for awareness, incidents, and statistics to drive discipline; Ensure proper incident/hazard/near miss reporting by monitoring reports and engaging/coaching site personnel.
• Contribute to the development of the Nouryon HSE&S strategy.  Includes design, deployment and delivery of the Nouryon HSE&S management systems.    
• Liaise with regulatory bodies to ensure the company is in compliance with regulations. 
• Serve as internal auditor.
• Own deployment and management of 3rd-party tools such as e-learning applications, safety data sheet management, and contractor management applications.
• Participate in delivering regional training programs for broad HSS topics and Life Critical Procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

We believe you bring

• A bachelor’s degree in HSE, science, engineering, or related discipline
• 10+ years’ experience in HSE role in an industrial environment w/program management experience; 3+ years’ experience in a regional role 
• Demonstrated knowledge of applicable HSS laws/regulations, and applying them in an industrial environment
• Ability to effectively manage implementation of programs at site-level, and train staff on life-critical procedures
• Ability to read, write & communicate in English
• Ability to wear FRCs, steel toed boots, hard hat & safety glasses; must be able to go into a plant environment, including climbing
