About the job
The successful candidate will join Nouryon Sales Team and will be in charge of prospecting, contacting, researching and developing new customers for the asphalt market.
In your future role as Account Manager- Asphalt you will
- Purpose of the job:
- Delivers the short- and long-term sales and profitability targets for the Asphalt Business in the assigned territory that are in line with annual budgets and strategic growth plans
- Create customer strategy and develop, manage, and ensure realization of sales for the assigned account(s) in Asphalt market segment in North America
- Create and own the Customer Value Proposition at the account
- Consolidates the regional demand and supports feeding the IBP and DMR process in order to make sure both short- and long-term product demand for the region is met
- Identify business growth opportunities throughout different Sales Channels
- Contribute to the realization of the Asphalt strategy in the assigned territory
- Helps to translate new ideas into concepts and plans to fulfill new customer needs and give input for new product development and validate value creation at customer
- Serve as a lead contracts negotiator on commercial terms
- Develop strong relationships with key players at the customer and create multi-level connections with the customer organization
- Keep management informed of all key activities at the account(s) through effective internal communication
- Key Responsibilities
- Assess an understand the market needs, development and trends, competition, solutions, and products in the Asphalt markets
- Leads regional planning (forecasting), pricing and contract negotiations
- Ensures inventory management and payment of overdues
- Meets forecast accuracy targets and reduced forecast bias as well as reducing overdues.
- Communicates trends, opportunities, and risks clearly and in a timely manner with the sales leader
- Identify, assess, and develop potential new businesses
- Works within the sales and support teams for the achievement of customer satisfaction, revenue generation, and long-term overall account goals in line with Nouryon’s vision and values.
- Achieve annual sales results and business growth versus an annual plan from the established markets and identify new growth areas
- Establish and build senior-level relationships with key decision makers and buyers throughout the industry
- Understand and assess customers’ needs, business objectives, strategies and build compelling customer value propositions representing our portfolio
- Be present at key market Seminars, Conferences, Exhibitions and set a strategy together with Marketing and the Global Sales Manager on participation, presentations, etc.
- Leverage and maintain effective working team relationships with all support functions and team(s) to serve customers in the best way possible including providing excellent delivery reliability in time and in full
- Provide insights regarding quantitative and qualitative developments by periodical and ad hoc reports and/or analyses, using the systems and tools agreed (CRM, Forecasting tool etc)
- Establish/retain close relationships and teamwork with other member of the North American and Global Sales teams, KAMs, Technical Support and Customer Service
- Build, maintain and expand a network of (new) strategic external relations, detect and realize new business opportunities in cooperation with other functional disciplines
We believe you bring
- Degree in Chemistry, (Civil) Engineering, (MSc or higher) and/or related field
- Background with Sales and/or technical customer support experience in Chemical industry and preferably road paving/ asphalt industry for at least 5 years
- Senior level connections in the Asphalt market is a preference
- Requires strong interpersonal, organizational, oral, and written communication skills.
- Enthusiasm for travel ~40% of his/her time.
- Professional in written and oral English.
- Strong Financial and Business Acumen
- Familiar with commercial tools (Arkieva, CRM)

Compensation Information
The hiring salary range for this position ranges from $99,000 to $141,400, although individuals may eventually progress through the pay scale in this role up to $183,800. Actual compensation will be dependent upon the specific role as well as the individuals’ qualifications, experience, skills, and certifications. Hired applicant will be eligible to receive annual bonuses.
Employees (and their families) will be eligible for medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are also eligible to enroll in our company’s 401k plan. Employees will also receive paid time off and the mandated company holidays throughout the calendar year.

This is a permanent position on a full-time basis, reporting to Global Sales Manager- Asphalt and based remotely in the US
