Production Superintendent


The Production Superintendent is responsible for the safe and effective operation of the Houston operations organization which duties include production, training, management and development of direct and indirect reports, coordination of maintenance, staffing and planning.

In your future role as Production Superintendent, you will 

  • Be responsible for execution of manufacturing plans to achieve targets in safety, volumes, cost, quality, and other requirements
  • Lead department operations team, communicate expectations, monitor performance, and take corrective actions to address issues and ensure safe and efficient operations 
  • Develop supervisor, engineers, and specialists
  • Continuously improve production performance through projects, procedures, reliability and OEE driven improvements 
  • Manage workflows and interactions between maintenance and production to optimize field execution
  • Distinguish between strategic and tactical activities and delegate ownership so that efficient resolution can occur
  • Lead transformation projects, including scope development, team development, milestone development, and tracking towards completion
  • Manage operator training program – adequacy and comprehensiveness 
  • Maintain procedures, recipes and BOM as required
  • Ensure safe behaviors of all employees
  • Ensure adherence to all HSE policies and procedures
  • Ensure PSM compliance and implement best practices
  • Ensure team resources are adequate to meet plan
  • Eliminate waste in all aspects of plant activity 
  • Manage loss accounting and direct resources to reduce losses
  • Ensure development and training of operators to meet plant goals
  • Hold employees accountable to standards of the plant
  • Support plant outages as required such that impact is minimized
  • Lead complex investigations and root-cause analysis on incidents/events
  • Perform MOC as required
  • Participate in on-call support
  • Understand, implement, and enforce the Houston Plant Safety policies and objectives
  • Be aware of potential health, safety, security, and environmental impacts in your area of responsibility and the consequences if an upset occurs
  • Understand and implement any parts of the Houston Plant Environmental Compliance Plan and Waste Management Plan that apply to your area of responsibility
  • Ensure compliance with site environmental permit requirements including special operating conditions, critical equipment inspections, and record keeping requirements
  • Participate in the site’s on-going Pollution Prevention Process
  • Actively participate in the site self-audit programs
  • Other duties and assignments as directed by manager  

We believe you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or similar field
  • 5+ years operational experience in a plant environment; 3+ years’ experience in a leadership position
  • Training in:
    • ISO/RC 14001
    • PSM
    • Hazardous material 
    • Safety 
  • Understanding of chemical unit operations – theory & troubleshooting
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Proficient in performing Root Cause Analysis & problem solving
  • Proficient in analyzing data & trends
  • SAP experience preferred

Employee must be able to perform computer work anywhere from 4-8 hours per day.
