About the job 

 

The Filling & Loading Technician operates big bag filling and container loading facilities to meet safety, environmental, quality, and production objectives. Reporting to the Distribution/Loading Supervisor, the technician ensures compliance with established policies and may provide backup support to the supervisor when needed.
 
 

In your future role as Chlorate Filling & Loading Technician, you will  

 

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Inspect product containers returned empty for off-standard or irregular conditions and communicate any significant problems, such as damage or excessive debris in the container to the Distribution/Loading Supervisor.
  • Working with the employees in the bagging group, operate the big bag filling and container loading facilities in the plant.
  • Participate in and/or execute activities pertaining to the production and loading areas during the work shift as necessary to maintain overall Production Department objectives and requirements.
  • Assist the Chief Technician in documenting and communicating critical information relative to bagging and loading operations.  This may include such items as logbook entries, loading reports, and informative shift changes or meetings.
  • Perform periodic field checks of equipment and processes as required or as needed to ensure proper loading operations and to help avoid equipment damage, unsafe or undesirable situations, and similar events. 
  • Perform sampling and lab analyses as required.
  • Participate in the interaction and requirements of maintenance and production activities as necessary.  This may include such items as preparing equipment for maintenance, writing work orders, performing inspections, and other similar activities.
  • Work with the Chief Technician on shift to satisfactorily maintain normal bagging and loading operations.  Be prepared to take proper action during abnormal plant operations or emergencies. 
  • Perform various tasks related to the plant utility systems as requested by supervision.
  • Handling and working around hazardous materials, and maintaining any necessary certifications is required.
  • Overtime work hours will sometimes be required to meet the needs of the Production Department. 
  • Attend meetings and training sessions as required.  Some of these events will not be possible to schedule during the normally scheduled working hours. 
  • Responsible for maintaining a positive and professional work environment. This includes such issues as personnel relations, discouraging any form of harassment, maintaining proper communications, and supporting management objectives.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the Loading Technician job requirements.  The Filling & Loading Technician may occasionally be required to support activities in the bulk rail, tank truck loading & shipping, and raw materials processing areas.

 

Safety Responsibilities:

  • The responsibilities of loading and unloading will involve the operations of forklifts, cranes, and the shuttle wagon. Safe operation of this equipment must always be adhered to.
  • Share responsibility for the safe operation of the sodium chlorate bagging and loading area.
  • Share responsibility for the safety of personnel working within the bagging and loading area.
  • Support and/or execute all applicable Safety, Health, and Environmental policies and procedures. 

 

Quality Responsibilities:

  • Shares responsibility for ensuring that the required product quality is maintained.
  • Suggestions for improvements of the process and of the equipment to reduce costs, increase productivity, improve safety, and protect the environment are encouraged.  
  • Support and/or execute all applicable requirements of the Total Quality Program and Quality Assurance System during the work shift.
  • Responsible for assisting the Distribution/Loading Supervisor and/or Operations Manager in making and implementing changes in the Total Quality Program and Quality Assurance System as requested.

 

 

We believe you bring 
 

Education and/or Experience:

  • A One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

 

Language Skills:

The Filling/Loading Technician must be able to:

  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Speak effectively within the peer work group.

 

Mathematical Skills:

  • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Compute rates, ratio,s and percentages.

 

Reasoning Ability:

The Filling/Loading Technician must be able to:

  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Washington Driver's License(s)

 

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be capable of driving a forklift.

 

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

 

 

Compensation Information 

 

The hiring salary range for this position ranges from $38,000 to $54,300, although individuals may eventually progress through the pay scale in this role up to $62,450. Actual compensation will be dependent upon the specific role as well as the individuals’ qualifications, experience, skills, and certifications

Employees (and their families) will be eligible for medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are also eligible to enroll in our company’s 401k plan. Employees will also receive paid time off and the mandated company holidays throughout the calendar year.
