HSES Manager
The purpose of the HSE&S Manager is to provide management direction and support in overseeing Health, Safety & Security of all employees with Polymer Chemicals, Pasadena. The HSE&S Manager will coordinate Responsible Care © activities and interface with the community. The HSE&S Manager will also provide oversight of security as the Facility Security Officer for the site.

In your future role as HSES Manager you will
- Conduct and ensure inspection of plant facilities are complete. Monitor unsafe acts, fire protection, first aid, equipment, security etc.
- Coordinate site health, safety and security training activities. Conduct training as needed.
- Act as Responsible Care © Management Representative and will manage all appropriate Responsible Care activities.
- Investigate major incidents and accidents.
- Communicates and coordinates with local and federal agencies relating to health, safety and security laws, and regulations.
- Represent the company in local, state and federal organizations. Act as community interface.
- Coordinate site Risk Insurance audits and deal with legal issues related to workman’s compensation and health, safety and security areas.
- Coordinates emergency response training and activities.
- Support the effective implementation of the corrective Action Process as defined in 14-QA-002.
- Understand and help implement the Pasadena Functional Chemicals Site Operation Policy and Objectives which includes MTQ and ISO/RC 14001.
- Be aware of potential environmental impacts in your area of responsibility and the consequences if an upset occurs.
- Be aware of potential health, safety, security and environmental impacts in area of responsibility and the action required should an issue occur.
- Understand and implement any parts of the Pasadena Environmental Compliance Plan and Waste Management Plan that apply to your area of responsibility.
- Participate in the site’s on-going Pollution Prevention Process.
- Other duties and assignments as directed by Site Director.
We believe you bring
- A BA/BS in Safety or Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years’ experience in chemical industry.
- Working knowledge of plant processes. Specifics can be learned.
- Ability to work in a chemical plant environment; Must be able to wear respirator.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
- Supervisory skills
- Strong communication, teamwork & planning skills
- Ability to wear steel toed shoes and hard hat when going into plants
- Ability to walk around plant & climb ladders, stairs etc.
- Professional safety diplomas from OSHA preferred: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Hazardous Material Manager (CHMM)
