EHEC and MEHEC cellulose ethers


Bermocoll® EHEC (ethyl hydroxyethyl cellulose) and MEHEC (methyl ethyl hydroxyethyl cellulose) are non-ionic cellulose ethers, manufactured by a unique, solvent-free process, ensuring you a low carbon footprint and cellulose with carefully calculated performance characteristics.

We are the only producer in the world of EHEC and MEHEC. These are manufactured using cellulose from wood or cotton linters via alkalization, ethoxylation and reaction with ethyl- and methyl-chloride.

EHEC and MEHEC can also be reacted with longer chain hydrophobes, producing hydrophobically modified cellulose, HM-(M)EHEC, used as associative thickeners.

Our Bermocoll® products are used as rheology modifiers in a variety of industrial applications to create desired performance enhancements for both drymix mortars and paints.

CMC (Sodium Carboxymethyl cellulose) is an anionic water soluble polymer derived from cellulose. We offer both technical and purified CMC. CMC is made via alkalization, followed by carboxymethylation with monochloroacetic acid (MCA). For purified CMC the process is followed by purification by washing with an ethanol water mixture. It functions as a thickener, binder, stabilizer, protective colloid, suspending agent, gelling agent, and flow control agent. This makes it suitable for use in a variety of industries.

For the food and beverage industry, Akucell® and Cekol® cellulose gums are trusted brand names that deliver the right consistency and taste. Additionally these grades can be used in personal care and pharmaceutical applications. Finnfix® CMC provide desired rheology, excellent water retention and film forming capability for a range of industrial applications, such as paper surface treatment, mining, fabric care, textile and ceramics.

Products in our Finnfix® and Celect® portfolio are used as depressants in flotation systems for mineral processing in mining.

In addition, our Staflo® and Gabroil™ products represent a comprehensive range of PAC and CMC grades to control the fluid loss and provide desired rheology to the oil and gas drilling industry.

Our AkuPure™ portfolio delivers an improved electrode coating process that contributes to battery performance by helping it retain and deliver power more effectively.

Finnfix

Finnfix® CMC brand is used in a range of industrial applications, such as paper surface treatment, mining, fabric care, textile and ceramics. Finnfix® products hydrate and dissolve in hot and cold water. By selecting the right Finnfix® grade, manufacturers can achieve the desired rheology. Finnfix® CMC is known for its excellent water retention, film forming capability and surface activity. These bio-based and biodegradable products are food contact approved and do not contain SVHC (Substances of Very High Concern).

Cekol

The innovative Cekol® sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) is a bio-based and biodegradable hydrocolloid, making it a preferred sustainable choice. The grades and functionality of the CMC can be tailored for specific uses such as for pharmaceutical, food, and personal care applications. Cekol® CMC is a water-soluble polymer derived from wood or cotton cellulose and produced to a minimum of 99.5% purity. The product hydrates and dissolves readily in hot and cold water and, as it is manufactured from wood cellulose, it fulfills GMO-free requirements. By choosing the right type of Cekol® CMC, formulators can achieve the desired rheology for any aqueous system, including suspensions and emulsions. In addition to controlling the rheology, Cekol® CMC is known for its excellent water retaining and film forming capacity.

Celect

Not all CMCs are created equal. Celect® brand of CMCs for flotation are uniquely designed to enhance depressant function within the mining flotation process. These product were designed within key parameters that translate into significant value for a given process. Celect® products are based on sustainably sourced cellulose and function as versatile additives in froth flotation due to their ability to disperse and depress gangue minerals across a relatively broad dosage range. The products are water-soluble polymers dissolving in cold as well as in warm water.
